Saudi Arabia’s flag carrier, Saudia (formerly Saudi Arabian Airlines), is in advanced talks with Elon Musk’s SpaceX to introduce Starlink satellite internet service onboard its flights, according to a Bloomberg report.
If the deal is finalised, Starlink’s high-speed, low-latency internet will be installed across Saudia’s fleet of over 140 aircraft, enhancing connectivity for passengers traveling to destinations across the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America.
In May 2025, Saudi Arabia approved the use of Starlink for aviation and maritime shipping, opening the door for such partnerships. The move aligns with the kingdom’s broader push to modernise infrastructure and improve travel experiences.
With Starlink’s growing adoption by airlines worldwide, Saudia’s potential partnership marks another step in the global expansion of satellite-powered inflight Wi-Fi — promising speeds comparable to home broadband even at cruising altitudes.
