NEW YORK, NY—Two Delta Air Lines aircraft were involved in a collision at LaGuardia Airport (LGA) in New York, resulting in damage to one plane and injuries to one person. Footage of the incident has been circulated by international media.
The accident occurred at approximately 9:56 PM local time as both planes were maneuvering near a gate. Preliminary reports suggest that one Delta aircraft, which was taxiing to a gate for parking, struck another Delta aircraft that had just landed and was moving toward its designated gate.
The impact of the collision was significant enough to shear off a portion of the wing from one of the airplanes. The extent of the injury to the person reported hurt has not yet been detailed, but emergency services responded to the scene promptly.
Delta Air Lines and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey are expected to launch a full investigation into the cause of the ground collision.
