Gardaí have charged 29 individuals as part of Operation Táirge, an ongoing investigation targeting a range of incidents in retail premises across the Dublin 7 area.

The operation focuses on combatting Organised Retail Crime (ORC), which involves coordinated efforts related to theft, handling stolen property, criminal damage, and assault on staff.

Key Details of the Charges:

  • A total of 40 charges for 35 separate offences are being brought against 25 men and four women, aged between 18 and 60.
  • All 29 individuals are scheduled to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice this morning.
  • In addition to the court appearances, one person received an Adult Caution, and another individual participated in a restorative justice session under the National Juvenile Diversion Programme.

Operation Táirge is a key component of An Garda Síochána’s Crime Prevention and Reduction Strategy. In conjunction with the charges, the Bridewell Community Policing team has been engaging with local businesses in Dublin 7 to provide reassurance and offer crime prevention advice.

Garda investigations are ongoing.
