Atlantic Technological University (ATU) has confirmed the launch of its Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) at the Sligo campus from September 2025, offering a future-focused pathway for aspiring pharmacists in Ireland.
The new five-year Level 9 programme (CAO Code: AU975) will be open for applications through the CAO Available Places facility between 12pm on 28 August and 11am on 4 September 2025. Both current CAO applicants and new applicants will be able to apply, with successful candidates considered in Round 2 of CAO offers.
Future-Focused Pharmacy Education
Designed to integrate evidence-based clinical practice with cutting-edge research in healthcare and pharmaceutical sciences, the MPharm aims to prepare graduates for the evolving role of the pharmacist in modern healthcare.
ATU says its graduates will be “equipped with the knowledge and skills for contemporary pharmacy practice” and ready to meet the needs of patients and the wider health service. The programme is currently in the final stages of professional accreditation, ensuring graduates meet all requirements to practice as pharmacists in Ireland.
Learning from Experts Across the Healthcare Sector
Throughout the course, students will gain experience by learning alongside pharmacists, clinicians, patients, and healthcare experts. Structured work placements will provide exposure to a wide range of pharmacy and healthcare environments, from hospital and community pharmacy to research and regulatory roles.
Information Days Across Three Campuses
To support applicants, ATU will host an Information Day across its Sligo, Letterkenny, and Galway City Dublin Road campuses on Friday, 29 August, from 11am to 2pm. Staff will be available to answer questions about the MPharm and other ATU programmes starting this September.
