Uisce Éireann has announced the start of significant water mains replacement works in the Carrowmore and Grange East, Knocknarea areas, as part of its ongoing National Leakage Reduction Programme. The project aims to combat a common problem in the region: frequent leaks, bursts, and water outages.
The works, which are being carried out along the L3507 at Grange East, are a crucial step in ensuring a more reliable and secure water supply for the local community.
Patricia Lowry, Uisce Éireann’s Programme Manager, stated, “Uisce Éireann is working hard to prioritize the delivery of a safe and secure water supply in Sligo. The works in Carrowmore and Grange East will help drive down leakage and reduce the risk of outages from bursts, now and into the future.”
The project, which is being undertaken by Farrans Construction, is expected to be completed by Spring 2026. While the works are underway, traffic management in the form of traffic lights will be in place to ensure the safety of both workers and the public. Uisce Éireann has confirmed that local and emergency access will be maintained at all times.
The company also extended its gratitude to the local community for their patience and support while these essential upgrades are being carried out.
