DUBLIN, IRELAND — A man has died and five other people were hospitalized following a fatal road traffic collision on the N7 Westbound at Rathcoole, Co Dublin, on Friday evening.

The crash, which involved a truck and two cars, occurred at approximately 6:40 p.m. The male driver of the truck was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been taken to the mortuary at Whitehall, where a post-mortem examination is scheduled to be conducted.

The five other individuals involved in the collision were transported to a hospital to receive treatment for their injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.

The road was closed for a period while Garda Forensic Collision Investigators examined the scene, but it has since reopened to traffic.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the collision. They are urging any road users who were traveling on the N7 near Rathcoole between 6:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025, and who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage, to make it available to investigators.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Clondalkin Garda Station at 01 666 7600, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station. Investigations are ongoing.
