INDIA – A massive job scam promising high-paying positions in the United Kingdom has resulted in two Malayali women losing lakhs of rupees. The victims, one from Peyad and another from Vattiyoorkavu, lost ₹16 lakh and ₹4 lakh respectively.
Police have registered cases at the Vattappara and Museum police stations against three individuals: Sharat Raghu, Binoy Paul, and Binoy Paul’s wife, Teena, all of whom reportedly work abroad.
The fraudsters employed a sophisticated method to gain the victims’ trust, primarily using Google Meet video calls to communicate and convince them of the job offer’s authenticity before demanding money. The victims were promised that their visa would be ready within a few months of transferring the funds.
When the promised timeline passed and the jobs did not materialize, the victims demanded their money back. At this point, the police reported that the accused stopped taking their calls, confirming the fraud. The total amount lost by the two women collectively stands at ₹20 lakh.
