Galway, Ireland – An Garda Síochána in Galway is actively investigating a series of criminal incidents reported over the past week, spanning from a city centre pub robbery to multiple vehicle break-ins and an act of arson. Authorities are appealing to the public for any information that may assist their ongoing investigations.
City Centre Pub Robbery
The most notable incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, September 28, when four males allegedly broke into a bar in the Eyre Square area of Galway city at approximately 3:44 AM. The suspects remained on the premises for over an hour before absconding with a “quantity of alcohol.”
Gardaí are treating the matter as a serious theft and have urged anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area around that time or who may have information regarding the identity of the four individuals to contact Galway Garda Station at 091-538000.
Vehicle Break-ins and Theft on Headford Road
Gardaí are also investigating a spate of break-ins that targeted vehicles parked in the Dun Na Coiribe estate on the Headford Road. The incidents are believed to have occurred between 9 PM on Sunday, September 28, and 8 AM on Monday, September 29. A number of items were stolen, including a large quantity of clothes, perfume, and cash.
The public is asked to remain vigilant and report any information related to these break-ins to Galway Garda Station.
Arson and Theft in County Galway
Two further crimes are under investigation, one involving criminal damage by fire and another a sophisticated theft:
- Car Arson (Castlepark): A white Citroën car was completely destroyed after being deliberately set alight while parked outside a house in the Castlepark area. The incident occurred at approximately 4:30 AM on Friday, September 26. Witnesses are asked to contact Galway Garda Station at 091-5380000.
- Segway Lawnmower Theft (Ardrahan): In a separate incident in County Galway, a Segway robotic lawnmower was stolen from the front garden of a house at Caherloggy West in Ardrahan between 9:45 AM and 7:42 PM on Sunday, September 28. Due to the size of the item, Gardaí believe a vehicle was likely used in the theft. Anyone who saw a suspicious vehicle or has been offered the specialised lawnmower for sale is asked to contact Gort Garda Station at 091-636400.
Authorities continue to conduct forensic examinations at the various scenes and are reviewing CCTV footage as part of their efforts to apprehend the individuals responsible for these crimes.
