SLIGO, IRELAND – Gardaí in Sligo have launched an investigation following the discovery of the body of an elderly man in Enniscrone, County Sligo, late last night.

The man, who was aged in his 80s, was found unresponsive on Church Lane in Enniscrone at approximately 11:00 PM. Emergency services were alerted, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

Sligo Coroner Fergal Kelly has been officially notified of the death, and arrangements are being made for a post-mortem examination. Gardaí have stated that the results of the post-mortem will determine the direction of their inquiry. However, based on preliminary information, it is understood that foul play is not currently suspected in the man’s death.

Gardaí are appealing to the public for assistance with their investigation. They are asking anyone who may have relevant information, particularly road users who were driving on Church Lane, Enniscrone, between 10:00 PM and 11:15 PM last night, to come forward.

Specifically, any motorists with dash-camera footage from that time and location are urged to contact Sligo Garda Station on 071 9157000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any local Garda station.
