DUBLIN, IRELAND – Ireland is brightly illuminated for Diwali, the Festival of Lights, as the Indian community and residents across the country join the festivities on the main day of Lakshmi Puja. The celebrations showcase the vibrant blend of Indian and Irish cultures through large-scale community events and touching personal moments.

Community Events Light Up Cities

Several notable celebrations are either running or planned across the region:

  • Dublin & NCI: The festive week was recently highlighted by the National College of Ireland (NCI)‘s ‘Diwali Delight’ event on October 17th.
  • Belfast Focus: In Northern Ireland, the major Belfast Diwali 2025 is set for Saturday, October 25th, with a special focus on community service under the theme “Lighting Lives Beyond Lamps.”
  • Upcoming Utsav: The BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha Ireland will host its grand Diwali & Annakut Utsav on Sunday, October 26th, welcoming all to partake in traditional offerings and cultural programs.

Viral Video Highlights Family Bonds

Beyond organized events, a heartwarming video went viral, capturing the true spirit of cultural integration. An Irish man, Darren, charmed millions by sincerely attempting to speak Hindi while thanking his Indian girlfriend’s mother for a Diwali sweet parcel.

His effort—including the phrase, “Aapka parcel mila, very sundar” (I received your parcel, it is very beautiful)—was shared online and widely celebrated as a testament to love transcending language and borders.

Eirenow Wishing everyone a joyous and prosperous Diwali! 🪔✨
