DUBLIN —Luas Red Line services between Connolly and The Point will be suspended until the end of November due to a fire-damaged bridge that has been deemed “structurally compromised” and is scheduled for demolition.

Following a recent fire that damaged the Georges Dock bridge, an assessment found it to be unsafe. As a result, the bridge will be demolished and rebuilt, with the Luas Red Line services on the affected section remaining suspended until the end of November.

A replacement bus service began operating on Monday, September 1st, to serve passengers on the affected route. The buses will run every 10 minutes during Luas operating hours, from 5:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. on Saturdays, and 7:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Sundays. The bus service will stop at the following locations:

  • George’s Dock Luas Stop (beside Hilton Garden Inn)
  • Mayor Square – NCI Luas Stop (beside The Convention Centre)
  • Spencer Dock Luas Stop (beside The Mayson Hotel)
  • The Point Luas Stop (beside The Point / 3Arena)

In addition to the main suspension, there will be further disruption to Luas services on Tuesday, September 2nd, and Wednesday, September 3rd, from 7 p.m. on both days. This is to facilitate changes to the overhead power cables needed for the bridge demolition. After 7 p.m. on these two days, Luas services will only run from Saggart and Tallaght to Smithfield. During these specific shutdowns, Luas tickets will be valid on Dublin Bus services. Morning services will not be affected.
