Chennai, Friday—A potential aviation disaster was narrowly averted late Friday night when an IndiGo flight, 6E-7253, from Madurai successfully landed at Chennai International Airport despite a crack being discovered on its front windshield. All 76 passengers and crew were reported safe.
The flight, which originated in Madurai and was bound for Chennai, experienced a mid-air scare after a crack was noticed on the cockpit’s forward glass panel. The pilot, demonstrating commendable vigilance and professionalism, immediately alerted the Air Traffic Control (ATC) in Chennai, requesting a priority landing.
Sources indicate that the aircraft, carrying 76 passengers, landed safely at 11:12 PM. It was only after landing that the pilot fully recognized the extent of the damage to the windshield. Following the safe touchdown, rapid safety protocols were implemented. All passengers were safely deboarded, and the aircraft was promptly moved to Bay No. 95 for inspection and repair.
Arrangements are currently underway to replace the damaged glass panel. The cause of the crack is under investigation.
