DUBLIN, IRELAND – Gardaí have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the discovery of two bodies—an adult male and a young girl, believed to be parent and child—at a house in Finglas, north Dublin, late Saturday evening.
Emergency services were called to a residence in the Heathfield estate in the Cappagh area of Finglas at approximately 8:00 PM. Upon arrival, officers made the tragic discovery. The child is believed to be as young as six years old.
The scene remains preserved this morning for forensic examination by the Garda Technical Bureau. The bodies are still at the residence, awaiting removal for a post-mortem examination, the results of which will be crucial in determining the exact cause and sequence of the deaths. The Office of the State Pathologist has been requested, and the Coroner has been notified.
While a definite conclusion has yet to be reached, sources indicate that Gardaí are treating the case as a potential murder-suicide, and there does not appear to be any sign of a break-in or indication of third-party involvement at the property.
Gardaí have formally stated that they are “investigating all the circumstances” surrounding the deaths, stressing that the investigation is at a very early stage. An incident room will be established, and a family liaison officer will be appointed to support the bereaved family.
