DUBLIN, IRELAND—A 67-year-old pensioner has been barred from Dublin Airport after being charged with allegedly obstructing officials at Terminal 2. Aleksandras Michalcenko, from Ratoath, Co Meath, appeared before the Dublin District Court on Tuesday morning.
Garda Kyle Morrissey informed Judge Patricia Cronin that Mr. Michalcenko “made no reply” when charged. While the Garda did not object to bail, specific conditions were requested and approved by the judge.
Mr. Michalcenko, who was assisted by a Russian translator, was ordered to stay away from Dublin Airport unless he is in possession of valid travel documents, such as a boarding pass or passport.
He is accused of “impeding three named authorised officers in the exercise of their powers, or failing to comply with their requirements” at Terminal 2’s Departure Road, an offense under Section 48 of the State Airports Act.
The court granted legal aid to Mr. Michalcenko, and he was ordered to sign on at a Garda station three days a week. The case will remain in the District Court, and the accused is scheduled to appear again next month to enter a plea or have a hearing date set.
