KILLES HANDRA, CO. CAVAN – A man in his 40s has died following an incident involving a quad bike at a premises in Killeshandra, Co. Cavan, this morning. He has been locally identified as Padraig (Paudie) O’Reilly, a well-known figure who ran an agricultural services business in the area.

Gardaí and emergency services were called to the scene this morning, where Mr. O’Reilly was pronounced dead. His body has been taken to Cavan General Hospital, and a post-mortem examination is scheduled to be carried out. A file on the incident will be prepared for the coroner’s court.

The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has been notified and has launched an investigation into the fatal accident.

As a mark of respect, a junior football championship match between Killeshandra and Kildallan, which was scheduled for this afternoon, has been postponed.

Local Fianna Fáil councillor Áine Smith expressed her sadness at the news, describing Mr. O’Reilly as a “very popular young man” from a highly respected family. “The thoughts and prayers of all of us in the wider Cavan area are with all his family and friends at this extremely sad and difficult time,” she said.
