Limerick, Ireland – A man has been hospitalized following a violent incident in the Rathkeale area of County Limerick yesterday evening, which involved a car ramming and a shooting.

Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the scene in the townland of Kilcoole shortly after 6:30 pm. Reports indicated a vehicle had been rammed, followed by an altercation. The injured man was transported to University Hospital Limerick for treatment.

According to a Garda statement, the man’s injuries are not considered life-threatening. Sources close to the investigation have reported that the man suffered gunshot wounds to his chest and hip.

Following the incident, a car was discovered burnt out in the area. Gardaí have cordoned off the scene for a forensic examination and have launched an investigation. They are appealing for witnesses or anyone with camera footage, including dashcam footage, who was in the Kilcoole and greater Rathkeale areas between 6:15 pm and 7:30 pm yesterday to contact them.
