Nenagh, Tipperary — Two people have tragically died in separate single-car collisions that occurred in County Tipperary in the early hours of this morning.
A man in his 40s and a woman in her 80s were the sole occupants of their respective vehicles in the fatal incidents in Birdhill and Toomevara (Nenagh).
Birdhill Collision
The first crash occurred on the R445 in Birdhill. The man, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been taken to University Hospital Limerick for a post-mortem examination, and the Coroner has been notified.
The R445 remains closed to facilitate a full forensic examination, with local traffic diversions in place. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or any road users with dash-cam footage who were travelling in the area between 10:00 PM yesterday and 8:00 AM this morning to come forward.
Toomevara (Nenagh) Collision
Separately, a woman in her 80s died following a single-car collision in Toomevara, near Nenagh. This crash took place sometime between midnight and 2:20 AM.
Like the Birdhill incident, the woman was the sole occupant of the car and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body has also been removed to University Hospital Limerick, and the road remains closed for a forensic examination.
Gardaí are urging anyone who may have witnessed the Toomevara crash, or who has dash-cam footage from the area between midnight and 2:30 AM, to make it available to investigators.
