Gardaí have arrested two men, both aged in their 20s, in connection with the investigation into a fire at a building housing International Protection Accommodation Services (IPAS) applicants in Drogheda, Co Louth, on Halloween night (October 31).

The serious incident saw emergency services rescue five people, including four children and a baby, from the top floor of the building.

The arrests were made following ongoing investigations into the blaze:

  • A man in his 20s was arrested in Co Louth last night (Wednesday).
  • A second man, also in his 20s, was arrested this morning (Thursday).

Both suspects are currently being held for questioning at a Garda station in Louth. Gardaí confirmed that their investigation into the circumstances of the fire is continuing.
