A vacant house in Slyguff, Bagenalstown, was broken into and ransacked overnight between 7 pm on Monday, October 27, and 8 am the following morning.

Entry was gained after the intruder or intruders smashed a side window of the property. The house was thoroughly searched, though authorities have not yet confirmed if any items were stolen.

The break-in was discovered by the owner’s brother, who was checking on the dwelling while the owner was abroad. The brother immediately alerted the GardaĆ.

As the owner has not yet returned, GardaĆ have been unable to definitively establish whether anything was taken during the burglary. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
