Zoë Kravitz & Lisa Bonet’s Pet Snake Escapade in Taylor Swift’s Home During L.A. Wildfires

Los Angeles, CA — Zoë Kravitz has revealed a wild and unexpected story involving herself, her mother Lisa Bonet, Taylor Swift’s historic Los Angeles home, and a very adventurous family pet.

During a recent appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers (Aug. 12), the Big Little Lies star recounted how she and Bonet almost lost their pet snake, Orpheus, inside Swift’s 1930s-era property earlier this year. The incident occurred while they were temporarily staying at the singer’s house during the L.A. wildfires that forced evacuations across the city in early 2025.

A Temporary Refuge Turns Into a Reptilian Rescue Mission

Kravitz explained that she and her mother were invited to stay at Swift’s home for roughly two weeks while the fires raged. Describing the property as “beautiful” and something you’d want to “preserve and take care of,” Kravitz said she always tries to leave places “better than I found them.”

That plan, however, was tested when Lisa Bonet briefly set down Orpheus, their family snake, who promptly slithered into a hidden hole in the bathroom wall.

“The hole is next to a banquette built into the wall,” Kravitz told Meyers. “I open the door and see my mom crouched over the corner holding the snake’s tail.”

Damage Control—Literally

After attempts to pull Orpheus free failed, the pair contacted Swift’s house manager, who suggested removing the built-in banquette to retrieve the snake. The dilemma: inform Taylor Swift about the missing snake, or dismantle part of her home.

“We ended up having to destroy the banquette,” Kravitz admitted. “We’re ripping up tile, scratching walls… I told the house manager, ‘I’ll pay for everything—just don’t tell her until it’s fixed.’”

Taylor Swift Already Knew

Despite their efforts to quietly repair the damage, Swift was well aware of the situation.

“I called her saying I needed to talk about something,” Kravitz recalled. “And she said, ‘Is it the fact that you almost lost a snake in my house and destroyed my bathroom?’”

A Story with No Bad Blood

While the mishap might have been nerve-racking, it appears there’s no lingering tension between the friends. Swift reportedly took the incident in stride—perhaps not surprising for someone known for handling unexpected situations with grace.
