Driver Arrested After Fatal Crash in Cork: Passenger Killed in Single-Vehicle Accident

In the early hours of Saturday morning, a tragic single-vehicle crash occurred in Ballynamona, Kinsale, Cork, resulting in the death of a passenger. Gardaí reported that the accident happened shortly after 1:30 AM.

A man in his 40s, one of the passengers in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, a man in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of offences under the Road Traffic Act. He is currently being detained at a Garda station in Cork under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Investigation and Road Closure

The road at Ballynamona has been closed to facilitate a technical examination by forensic investigators. Diversions are currently in place, and Gardaí have appealed to the public for witnesses who might have any information regarding the crash.
