A serious crash has shut down part of the N4 dual carriageway in Sligo this morning.

Emergency services are working at the scene of the collision. The crash happened earlier today on one of the county’s busiest roads.

The southbound section of the N4 is now closed between two key points. Traffic cannot pass between the Carraroe slip road and the Ballysodare slip road. This closure affects drivers heading south through Sligo.

Local gardaí have set up diversions to help traffic move around the crash site. Drivers should expect delays and plan extra time for their journeys.

Police say the road will likely stay closed for most of the morning. They are working to clear the scene as quickly and safely as possible.

No other details about the crash have been released yet. This includes information about injuries or how many vehicles were involved.

Drivers traveling through Sligo should use alternative routes where possible. Local traffic is being redirected through side roads. The N4 is a major route connecting Dublin to the northwest, so this closure will affect many travelers.

Anyone planning to use this stretch of road should check for updates before traveling. The situation may change as emergency services complete their work.
