A teenager has tragically lost his life in a single-vehicle crash that occurred early this morning in County Donegal. The accident took place shortly after 5 a.m. on the R44 at Ballinlough, Buncrana.

The driver, described by Gardaí as an adult male in his late teens and the sole occupant of the vehicle, was fatally injured in the collision.

Local authorities have confirmed that the coroner has been notified, and arrangements are being made for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

The road remains closed to allow Garda Forensic Collision Investigators to conduct a technical examination of the scene later today. Motorists are advised to follow local diversions until the road reopens.

Gardaí have issued an appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has relevant information. They are particularly interested in hearing from road users who were traveling in the area between 4:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. and who may have camera footage, including dash-cam recordings.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Gardaí to assist with the ongoing investigation.
