Expressway will change its bus timetable between Sligo and Dublin starting August 24, 2025. The biggest change is an earlier morning departure at 6am instead of 6:30am.
Bus Eireann says the new schedule will be simpler. Weekday services will be different from weekend and holiday services. This change reflects real traffic patterns throughout the week.
More bus stops will now have regular service. Every Route 23 trip will stop at Ballisodare, Collooney, Boyle, Mullingar, Castlebaldwin, Longford Station, and Liffey Valley.
To make journeys faster, some low-demand stops will be dropped. These include Maynooth, Dromod, Rooskey, Drumfin, Sligo IT, and Dublin’s North Wall Quay. Passengers needing Maynooth can use Route 22 instead.
The company is also changing some departure times. The first bus from Sligo now leaves at 6:00am because more people want early morning travel. The 8:00am service from Sligo and the 11:00pm service from Dublin will now run seven days a week.
Andrew Yates, Head of Expressway, says the changes come from customer feedback. The goal is to make journeys smoother and more reliable, especially for Dublin Airport arrivals.
Passengers should check the new timetables at expressway.ie before traveling. The company recommends booking tickets in advance to guarantee seats.
