As summer kicks off in Ireland, June brings a number of important financial updates that could impact families, mortgage holders, and carers. From an annual €2,000 social welfare payment to significant mortgage rate reductions by leading banks, it’s a busy month for money matters. Households are also being reminded to prepare early for the Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance, while Gardaí are warning residents in Cork about counterfeit euro notes circulating locally.
Here’s a comprehensive breakdown of the money changes happening this June in Ireland.
Social Welfare Updates
€2,000 Carer’s Support Grant to Be Paid in June
A major update this month is the increase in the Carer’s Support Grant, a yearly payment to full-time carers. The grant has been boosted by €150, bringing the total to €2,000 in 2025.
This tax-free, non-means-tested payment will be made automatically on Thursday, 5 June to those currently receiving one of the following supports:
- Carer’s Allowance (both full and half-rate)
- Carer’s Benefit
- Domiciliary Care Allowance
No separate application is needed if you’re already receiving one of the above supports.
However, if you are caring for someone but not receiving any of these payments, you must submit a Carer’s Support Grant application form (CSG1) for each person you care for. These forms are available at local Intreo Centres, Social Welfare Branch Offices, or Citizens Information Centres.
