SLIGO – A 64-year-old Sligo man appeared before Sligo District Court on Wednesday, facing a serious charge related to the possession of child sexual abuse material.

The man, whose identity is being withheld to protect the integrity of the ongoing legal process, has been charged with one count of possession of such material. The alleged offense is said to have occurred on April 10, 2024, at an address within Co Sligo.

The court appearance marks the beginning of the legal proceedings in this case. Due to the sensitive nature of the charge, detailed information about the specifics of the evidence or the circumstances of the alleged crime has not been released. The man has not yet entered a plea.

The case is now before the courts, and further details will likely emerge as the legal process unfolds. The man is presumed innocent until proven guilty. This case highlights the continued efforts by law enforcement to combat the possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material.
