DUBLIN: An urgent safety recall has been issued for a critical component used in heating systems across over 100,000 homes and businesses in Ireland after the component was found to pose a potentially fatal electrocution risk.

The recall affects specific models of Tucson 5m, 6m, and 8m pumps manufactured between 2017 and 2024. The defective pumps have been identified as having a significant electrical safety hazard, prompting immediate action from authorities and the manufacturer.

Identifying Affected Models

The affected pumps can be identified by checking the Serial Number (S/N) listed on the pump’s label. The following serial number prefixes indicate that the pump must be replaced:

  • S/NA
  • S/NB
  • S/NC
  • S/N D44 or those manufactured prior to this batch
  • S/N 2017
  • S/N 2018
  • S/N 2019
  • S/N 2020

Instructions for Consumers

The primary instruction for all consumers is to treat the pump as an electrical hazard.

  1. Do Not Interact: Consumers must avoid all physical or electrical contact with the pump.
  2. Locate Serial Number: If you have a Tucson-branded pump, locate the serial number on the front label.
  3. Check Status: Use the serial number checking tool online at https://tucsonpumps.com/serial-number-checking-tool/ or check the list of affected prefixes on the CCPC.ie website. Alternatively, call the designated recall number: 01 842 6255.
  4. No Electrical Contact: Users are strictly warned not to touch the electrical connection of the pump.

Any pump starting with the serial numbers listed above must be immediately replaced. The recall is categorized as an urgent measure to prevent serious injury or death.
