PARIS, FRANCE — Four men have been arrested in Paris on suspicion of the alleged gang rape of a 13-year-old girl in the toilets of a KFC restaurant in the Forum des Halles shopping centre.

The horrific incident reportedly took place on Monday evening in the Les Halles district. According to reports, the teenage victim was allegedly separated from her friend and then lured or dragged into the fast-food giant’s restroom by the men.

The assault came to light when a member of the public discovered the crying 13-year-old in the bathroom. The traumatised girl then revealed the details of the ordeal.

Passers-by alerted the police, and officers from the Central police station quickly responded to the scene. The Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed that officers were alerted that “a young woman had told them she had just been raped.”

Police raced to the shopping centre, and the four suspects, aged between 18 and 24, were swiftly apprehended after the victim was reportedly able to identify them. They were arrested on suspicion of the rape of a minor under 15. French media report that the men are currently being questioned by the Juvenile Protection Unit.

The victim has been offered necessary medical and psychological support following the traumatic event.
