DUBLIN, Ireland — An investigation has been launched by An Garda SÃochána into the alleged rape and sexual assault of three women and a teenage girl at a sports centre in the south-east of the country. The investigation began after three adult women presented themselves at a garda station, collectively alleging they were all victims of multiple sexual assaults.
According to sources close to the investigation, the women reported that the alleged perpetrator was a male who held a senior position at the sports centre. The allegations have sent shockwaves through the local community, which has a long-standing relationship with the popular sports facility.
A Garda spokesperson confirmed that an investigation into serious sexual offences is underway. “We are treating these allegations with the utmost seriousness. An incident room has been established and specially trained detectives are supporting the victims as the investigation proceeds,” the spokesperson said. “Due to the sensitive nature of the allegations and to protect the privacy of the victims, no further details will be released at this time.
