DUBLIN, Ireland — An investigation has been launched by An Garda Síochána into the alleged rape and sexual assault of three women and a teenage girl at a sports centre in the south-east of the country. The investigation began after three adult women presented themselves at a garda station, collectively alleging they were all victims of multiple sexual assaults.

According to sources close to the investigation, the women reported that the alleged perpetrator was a male who held a senior position at the sports centre. The allegations have sent shockwaves through the local community, which has a long-standing relationship with the popular sports facility.

A Garda spokesperson confirmed that an investigation into serious sexual offences is underway. “We are treating these allegations with the utmost seriousness. An incident room has been established and specially trained detectives are supporting the victims as the investigation proceeds,” the spokesperson said. “Due to the sensitive nature of the allegations and to protect the privacy of the victims, no further details will be released at this time. We are appealing to anyone with relevant information to contact us in confidence.”

The sports centre has issued a statement confirming its full cooperation with the Garda investigation and its commitment to a safe environment for all its members. The alleged crimes have sparked discussions about safeguarding protocols within sports and community facilities nationwide.

Gardaí have urged anyone with information that may assist their inquiries to contact them directly or through the confidential Gardaí information line.
