CLONMEL, IRELAND – Gardaí have sealed off a rural site in County Tipperary following the discovery of a woman’s body on Monday afternoon, December 22, 2025.
The Discovery
The body was found by a member of the public shortly before 3:00 PM in a drain in the Oldbridge area, near the Holy Year Cross, approximately 4km south of Clonmel town.
Current Status of the Investigation
- Forensic Examination: The Garda Technical Bureau is currently carrying out a detailed forensic examination of the scene, which remains preserved.
- Suspicious Death: While the results of a post-mortem examination are awaited, authorities are currently treating the death as suspicious.
- Missing Person Link: It is understood that investigators are looking into whether the discovery is linked to the disappearance of a 36-year-old local woman who has been missing since late November.
- Next Steps: The Office of the State Pathologist and the local Coroner have been notified. The body will remain at the scene for an initial examination before being transferred for a full post-mortem, which will determine the formal course of the investigation.
