CLONMEL, IRELAND – Gardaí have sealed off a rural site in County Tipperary following the discovery of a woman’s body on Monday afternoon, December 22, 2025.

The Discovery

The body was found by a member of the public shortly before 3:00 PM in a drain in the Oldbridge area, near the Holy Year Cross, approximately 4km south of Clonmel town.

Current Status of the Investigation

  • Forensic Examination: The Garda Technical Bureau is currently carrying out a detailed forensic examination of the scene, which remains preserved.
  • Suspicious Death: While the results of a post-mortem examination are awaited, authorities are currently treating the death as suspicious.
  • Missing Person Link: It is understood that investigators are looking into whether the discovery is linked to the disappearance of a 36-year-old local woman who has been missing since late November.
  • Next Steps: The Office of the State Pathologist and the local Coroner have been notified. The body will remain at the scene for an initial examination before being transferred for a full post-mortem, which will determine the formal course of the investigation.

Gardaí have appealed to anyone who may have been in the Holy Year Cross or Oldbridge area over the weekend or on Monday to contact Clonmel Garda Station at 052 617 7640 or the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111.
