Knife Attack at Weimar Christmas Market; Several Injured, Suspect Arrested

Weimar, Thuringia, Germany — Several people sustained minor injuries following a knife attack that occurred at a Christmas market in Weimar, Thuringia, on Saturday evening.

The incident took place at the famous ice rink located in front of the National Theater. The suspect, identified as a 29-year-old Moroccan national, allegedly attacked multiple individuals with a knife and subsequently threatened police officers who arrived at the scene.

Authorities used pepper spray to forcibly subdue the assailant and bring the situation under control. The suspect, along with three other individuals, suffered minor injuries as a result of the pepper spray used during the arrest. The man was immediately taken into custody.

Police are currently investigating the full circumstances surrounding the attack. Authorities have urged anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them directly at 03643/8820.
