A man has been arrested following a serious two-vehicle road collision that occurred in the early hours of this morning in County Wexford, resulting in the death of a man in his 60s.
The collision, which involved a passenger van and a 4×4 vehicle, took place on the N25 at Ballykelly, near Drinagh, at approximately 1:10 AM.
Tragically, the driver of the van, a man in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has since been removed to Wexford General Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
A passenger in the 4×4 vehicle was also transported to Wexford General Hospital, but their injuries are reported to be non-life threatening.
The driver of the 4×4, a man in his 40s, was arrested at the scene by GardaĆ and is currently being detained at a Garda station in Wexford for questioning under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
The N25 road at Ballykelly has been temporarily closed to allow for a comprehensive technical examination of the scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local traffic diversions have been put in place.
