A man has been arrested following a serious two-vehicle road collision that occurred in the early hours of this morning in County Wexford, resulting in the death of a man in his 60s.

The collision, which involved a passenger van and a 4×4 vehicle, took place on the N25 at Ballykelly, near Drinagh, at approximately 1:10 AM.

Tragically, the driver of the van, a man in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has since been removed to Wexford General Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

A passenger in the 4×4 vehicle was also transported to Wexford General Hospital, but their injuries are reported to be non-life threatening.

The driver of the 4×4, a man in his 40s, was arrested at the scene by Gardaí and is currently being detained at a Garda station in Wexford for questioning under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

The N25 road at Ballykelly has been temporarily closed to allow for a comprehensive technical examination of the scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local traffic diversions have been put in place.

Gardaí are issuing an urgent appeal for any witnesses to the incident, or for any road users—especially those with dash-cam footage—who were traveling on the N25 between 12:30 AM and 1:30 AM this morning. Anyone with information is asked to contact Wexford Garda Station on 053 916 5200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
