Man Dies in Tragic Crane and Van Collision in County Offaly

CO OFFALY, IRELAND—A man in his 40s has died following a serious road traffic collision involving a crane and two vans in Co Offaly this morning.

The incident occurred on the R401 at Drumcooly at approximately 6:15 am. The driver of one of the vans was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the second van, a man in his 30s, was taken to Midland Regional Hospital at Tullamore with non-life-threatening injuries.

The road remains closed as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators conduct an examination. Local diversions are in place to manage traffic.

The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has been notified of the incident and will conduct an independent investigation.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information, including those with dash-cam footage, who were traveling on the R401 between 6:00 am and 6:30 am to contact them. Information can be provided to Tullamore Garda Station at 057 932 7600, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
