Gardaí and emergency services are at the scene of a fatal light aircraft crash that occurred near Tramore, Co. Waterford, this afternoon, Thursday, November 20. The collision, which involved a Vulcanair P68 aircraft, is understood to have happened at approximately 12:50 PM while on its approach to Waterford Airport.
- Casualties Confirmed: One person has been confirmed dead as a result of the crash, and three other people who were on board the twin-engined aircraft sustained injuries. The injured have been transported by ambulance to University Hospital Waterford.
- Location and Response: The crash occurred in a field near Lisselan, close to Tramore. A significant emergency response, including Gardaí, paramedics from the National Ambulance Service, and Fire Services, was immediately deployed to the site.
- Investigation: The Air Accident Investigation Unit (AAIU) of the Department of Transport has been notified and is sending a team of inspectors to the site to commence an investigation into the cause of the collision.
- Traffic Disruption: Traffic diversions have been put in place, with the R685 road partially closed near the airport.
