MIDLETON, Co. Cork– The investigation into the murder of father-of-four (some reports indicate five children) Barry Daly in Doneraile, County Cork, has seen a third person charged. A 16-year-old boy was brought before Midleton District Court this morning, charged with Mr Daly’s murder, which occurred outside his home early on Sunday morning.

The teenager is the third person, and the second juvenile, to be charged in connection with the fatal incident. Due to their age, neither of the juveniles charged can be legally identified.

The 16-year-old was remanded in custody to the Oberstown Children’s Detention Campus.

Previous Charges: Yesterday, two other individuals were formally charged with the murder following separate court appearances at Mallow District Court:

  1. Alex Deady (20): With an address at Glen View, Convent Road in Doneraile, he was remanded in custody.
  2. A 17-year-old boy: He was also charged and remanded in detention to Oberstown.

The Incident: Barry Daly, a man in his 40s and an An Post employee, was pronounced dead after emergency services responded to an incident outside his home in the Rockview Tce area of Doneraile in the early hours of Sunday. The community has been left in shock by the sudden death.

All three accused—Alex Deady, the 17-year-old, and the 16-year-old—are scheduled to reappear before Mallow District Court via video link next Tuesday, October 21st, 2025.
