A Status Yellow rain warning remains in place for six counties along Ireland’s west coast, with Met Éireann forecasting continued heavy downpours and potential thunderstorms.

The national forecaster has issued the warning for Clare, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, and Sligo. The warning, which came into effect at 6pm yesterday, will continue until 6pm this evening.

According to Met Éireann, significant rainfall accumulations from heavy showers and longer spells of rain can be expected, with isolated thunderstorms also possible.

The public is advised to be aware of the potential for localized flooding, poor visibility, and difficult travelling conditions on roads. Motorists are urged to exercise caution.
