Co. Kildare – A man in his 30s has tragically died after being struck by a bus and a car in a collision in County Kildare on Friday morning. This fatality marks the third death on Irish roads since Thursday.

Gardaí and emergency services responded to the scene on the R402 at Kishawanny, Carbury, at approximately 6:30 am. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body remains there pending the notification of the coroner.

A Garda spokesperson confirmed that no other injuries were reported in the incident involving the bus and car.

Ongoing Investigation and Road Closure

The section of the R402 at the Kishawanny Road junction remains closed as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators conduct a technical examination of the scene. Local diversions are currently in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the collision, particularly any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were traveling in the area between 5:45 am and 6:45 am on Friday morning.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Leixlip Garda Station on (01) 666 7800, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station. Investigations are ongoing.

Weekend Road Toll Rises

The fatal collision in Kildare follows two other tragic incidents on Thursday:

  1. Co. Limerick: A woman in her 70s died following a single-car crash on the Abington Road, Murroe, at approximately 4:10 pm.
  2. Co. Fermanagh: 69-year-old Francis Lynch from the Rosslea area was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Lisnaskea shortly after 4:20 pm.
