Authorities conducted a major multi-agency checkpoint on the N1/M1 in Dundalk, Co Louth, on Thursday as part of a cross-border policing operation.
The operation, coordinated by Gardaí in collaboration with the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), focused on tackling rural crime and human trafficking while preventing criminal activity along the border.
As part of the checkpoint, the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) carried out immigration inspections on 10 buses. During these checks, two individuals were refused Leave to Land and are set to be deported on Thursday night.
Officials emphasized that the initiative aimed to disrupt the free movement of criminals operating between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
