Two protest groups gathered in Sligo town on Saturday afternoon. No one was arrested during the events.
One group protested against immigration. They walked from Queen Maeve Square to the GPO building. At the GPO, a second group held a counter-protest supporting anti-racism efforts.
The Gardaí (Irish police) watched both protests carefully. They said both events stayed peaceful from start to finish. Everyone went home quietly when the protests ended.
The two groups had different views on immigration issues. However, both sides exercised their right to peaceful protest without any trouble or violence.
Local Gardaí released a statement confirming that Saturday’s demonstrations passed without incident. They thanked protesters from both sides for keeping things calm and orderly.
This type of peaceful protest shows how different groups can express their views while respecting public safety and order in Irish communities.
