Sligo University Hospital has issued an urgent appeal to the public to adhere to visiting restrictions following outbreaks of Norovirus (winter vomiting bug) and COVID-19.
Currently, the hospital is managing a Norovirus outbreak affecting four wards and a COVID-19 outbreak impacting one ward. Due to these infections, visiting is strictly limited.
Exceptions will be made on compassionate grounds, but only under exceptional circumstances. Those seeking to visit affected wards must contact the relevant ward manager in advance for approval.
Hospital authorities urge visitors to cooperate with staff enforcing these restrictions and to use the provided alcohol hand gels upon entry and exit. Enhanced infection control measures are in place and will remain until further notice.
