Tragedy on N15, Man in His 20s Dies Today in Sligo Road Accident

In a tragic road traffic collision in Co Sligo, a young man lost his life early this morning after a devastating crash involving a van and a lorry. The incident occurred shortly after 6am on Sunday, August 4, on the N15 at Urlar, Drumcliffe.

Road Traffic Collision in Co Sligo

Gardai and emergency services were quickly alerted to the scene of the road traffic collision, which involved a van and a lorry. The driver of the van, a man in his late 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

The driver of the lorry was taken to Sligo University Hospital for assessment. Fortunately, his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The scene of the road traffic collision in Co Sligo remains preserved this morning to allow Garda Forensic Collision investigators to conduct a thorough examination. Due to this, traffic diversions have been implemented on the N15 at Urlar, affecting motorists traveling between Drumcliffe and Grange.

The local coroner has been notified, and a post-mortem examination will be conducted in due course.

Garda Appeal for Witnesses

In light of this tragic road traffic collision in Co Sligo, Gardai have issued an urgent appeal for witnesses, especially those who may have dash-cam footage from the area around the time of the crash.

A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana told the media: “Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward. They are also seeking road users with camera footage, including dash-cam footage, who were traveling between Drumcliffe and Grange at the time of the collision to make it available to them.”
