This morning, a serious incident at a factory in north Wexford prompted an extensive emergency response, culminating in a man being airlifted to a hospital. At approximately 10:30 a.m., an employee at the Ire Well Pallets (IWP) factory in Wells, Gorey, sustained multiple injuries under circumstances that necessitated immediate medical attention.

The Ire Well Pallets factory, known for its production of timber pallets, boxes, crates, and refurbished pallets, became the scene of a critical workplace accident. The injured man, in his 40s, required urgent care, leading to the dispatch of the Air Corps 112 helicopter to transport him to Tallaght University Hospital.

The response to the incident included not only the Air Ambulance from Athlone but also the National Ambulance Service, accompanied by several advanced paramedics. Despite the severity of his injuries, which were numerous, hospital authorities have indicated that they are not life-threatening. The man is currently receiving treatment and remains under medical supervision.

The incident has highlighted the potential hazards present in industrial workplaces and the critical importance of workplace safety measures. Investigations into the specifics of the incident are underway as officials aim to understand the sequence of events that led to the accident and to implement measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.
