Heathrow Airport has announced a full-day closure after a major fire at a nearby electrical substation led to a widespread power outage, severely disrupting flight operations across the globe.
The London Fire Brigade deployed approximately 70 firefighters to battle the blaze in west London. The incident triggered a massive blackout at Heathrow Airport, which is not only the busiest airport in Europe but also ranks as the fifth busiest in the world.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing large orange flames and thick smoke billowing into the sky. Authorities evacuated around 150 people from nearby buildings as a precaution, while thousands of homes and businesses were left without electricity.
As of now, the cause of the fire remains unknown, according to fire officials.
