In a remarkable cross-cultural cinematic effort, Film & Trends has released its debut Irish short film titled “Vishudha Benny”, a light-hearted comedy-drama that’s already making waves among film enthusiasts in Ireland and beyond.

A Cultural Celebration with an Unexpected Twist

Filmed entirely in Ireland, Vishudha Benny tells the story of Benny and his wife Ancy as they prepare for a traditional celebration in their home. What starts as a serene and festive day quickly spirals into a rollercoaster of events due to a series of unexpected twists. With a strong undercurrent of humour, the film reflects the unpredictable yet endearing nature of family and festivity.

The narrative captures not just the emotional intricacies of a celebration gone awry, but also highlights the cultural nuances of a Malayali household transplanted into the Irish context. The result is a comedic yet poignant short film that blends two cultures effortlessly, echoing the experiences of the Indian diaspora in Ireland.

All-Ireland Cast and Crew Elevate the Story

The production stands out for its commitment to authenticity and quality. Featuring a cast of actors selected from across Ireland, the performances have received praise for their natural chemistry and comedic timing.

Produced by Films & Trends and helmed by Prince Joseph from Angamaly, the film’s creative backbone includes some seasoned and emerging names in the indie film circuit:

  • Creative Head: Jacob Lijil
  • Director of Photography (DOP): Jison Abraham (PK Edits)
  • Editor: Anandu Sajeevan
  • Music and Background Score: Sourav Suresh
  • Sound Design & Mixing: Anoop Anilkumar
  • Digital Imaging (DI): Bilal Rasheed

Supporting the core team are assistant cinematographer Sunil Thomas (Sligo), and assistant directors Akhil P. R., Shijil Surendran, and Snejha Mariyat George. The technical sound team also features Shabu Paul and Sunil Thomas, with dubbing carried out at Grace Audios. Still photography and publicity design were managed by Mithun Raj and Sunils Photography Sligo respectively.

Talented Ensemble Cast

The film stars Prince Joseph Angamaly in the lead role, accompanied by Shiny Johny, Vishnu N. Nair, Paul Varghese, Janesh Susheelan, Alisha Jo, Minnu Maria Yoachim, Stephy Jishnu, Hani Skaria, Sherin Mariam Yohannan, and Nithin Saju. Each actor brings unique energy and depth to the film, reinforcing its central themes of family, celebration, and the humorous chaos that often comes with both.

A Promising Start for Films & Trends in Ireland

As Vishudha Benny garners attention online and within local film circles, Films & Trends is being lauded for successfully bridging cultures and delivering content that resonates with diverse audiences. The film’s comedic approach, coupled with relatable domestic themes, has contributed to its growing popularity.

In an entertainment landscape that increasingly values authenticity and representation, Vishudha Benny stands out as a heartfelt, humorous portrayal of the immigrant experience, wrapped in the joyous spirit of celebration. It signals a strong beginning for Films & Trends in Ireland, and many are eagerly awaiting their next venture.
