DUBLIN, IRELAND — The Land Development Agency (LDA) has officially opened applications for the first phase of its significant cost rental initiative in Dublin, making 229 apartments immediately available at Cooper Square in Seven Mills, Dublin 22. This phase is part of a larger scheme delivering over 600 cost rental homes.
Applications for these first units opened on Monday at 12 noon and must be submitted through the official LDA website.
The 229 available homes are broken down as follows:
- One-bedroom: 102 units (starting at €1,350 per month)
- Two-bedroom: 116 units (starting at €1,500 per month)
- Three-bedroom: 11 units (starting at €1,790 per month)
What is Cost Rental?
The cost rental model is a government initiative designed to provide secure, long-term tenancy for individuals and families who earn too much to qualify for social housing but struggle with high private market rents. Rents under this scheme are set at least 25 per cent below prevailing market rates.
LDA Chief Executive John Coleman highlighted the impact of the scheme: “The LDA is proud to be making more affordable homes available in Dublin… These high-quality and well-located cost rental apartments will make great homes… In total, the LDA has now completed more than 2,200 cost rental apartments.” He also noted that eligible candidates benefit from security of tenure in a newly built, A-rated home.
Prospective tenants are strongly advised to consult the LDA website for essential information regarding the application process, full eligibility criteria (including the maximum net household income of €66,000 per annum for Dublin), and occupancy requirements for each apartment type. Further application phases for the remaining homes will be announced in the coming months.
