The Garda Divisional Drugs Unit in Sligo has seized a significant quantity of suspected controlled substances during a planned operation in the Sligo Town area.

Among the drugs confiscated were suspected Ecstasy tablets. While laboratory analysis is still pending, similar tablets previously seized in the area were found to contain up to three times the usual amount of MDMA, raising serious health concerns.

Authorities are warning the public about the heightened risks associated with these tablets. The possession, sale, or distribution of controlled substances remains illegal, and consuming them poses severe health dangers. If test results confirm the presence of such high levels of MDMA, these tablets could be significantly more hazardous than usual.

Gardaí urge anyone who encounters or is offered these tablets to report it immediately. You can contact Sligo Garda Station at 071 9157000 or use the Garda confidential line at 1800 666 111.
