Tralee, Ireland — An Garda Síochána has confirmed the formal identification of the body of a woman that was discovered in a canal in Tralee yesterday.

The discovery was made shortly before 1:00 pm on Wednesday along the canal walkway stretch situated between Tralee town centre and Blennerville.

The deceased woman is believed to have been in her 50s or 60s and was approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall. At the time of discovery, she was wearing distinctive clothing: a red top, black leggings, and white runners.

The body was transported to University Hospital Kerry, where the formal identification process was completed.

Gardaí have issued a statement thanking the public for their assistance following the initial discovery and confirmed that they are not seeking any further public assistance concerning this matter.
